COVID 19 Update – Guidance for Members and Race Directors - December 11 2020
The Committee continues to keep under review the evolving situation with Covid and is very mindful of both Government Guidance and also the guidance from the relevant Athletic Associations.
The most recent changes in England, to revert back to the three tier system, and the increased tightening of the rules around this has thrown up many challenges for runners and race directors. For clarity the advice from England Athletics on training and competition is as follows:
We recognise the difficulty of balancing members desire to run for social and mental health reasons with the wider needs of the community and the advice from the Government and the Athletics Bodies. We think its important that we all act in accordance with the guidelines to protect ourselves, our families and the wider community. As an EA registered club we believe we should follow England Athletics guidelines. Therefore for 100 Marathon Club purposes races will only count if they comply with the above and all other relevant guidance. We recognise the difficulty in policing this and we rely on members to do the right thing and act in accordance with this guidance and the relevant advice.
Please stay safe and enjoy running where you can and where its safe to do so.
