Important Information

  • To support the vetting of members' award submissions, we have prepared the countries spreadsheet listing eligible countries. Please send this to vetting@100marathonclub.org.uk.
  • You will need to download the spreadsheet to your computer/device to be able to edit it.
  • This list has been more challenging to compile than the counties spreadsheet, as there is no universally agreed definition of a "country". While there are 195 widely recognised sovereign states (including 193 UN member states), there are also numerous dependent territories, overseas departments, and autonomous regions associated with countries such as the UK, France, the USA, and the Netherlands. As a result, some practical decisions have been made when compiling this list.
  • To give members the best opportunity to achieve the first milestone, particularly where travel options may be limited, the UK Home Nations and Crown Dependencies (e.g. Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man) are treated as separate "countries".
  • Some semi-autonomous islands, such as Ibiza and Madeira, which regularly host popular and accessible events, have also been included as additional "countries".
  • Very small or remote islands have generally been excluded, as it is unlikely they have hosted organised marathons with at least 15 participants. However, if you have completed a marathon in a location that does not appear on the list and would like it to be considered, please contact the Secretary.
