The Committee wishes to state categorically that we do not countenance any kind of cheating and, where it is proved that a member has cheated, we will act and the member will be sanctioned accordingly.
We cannot act on rumour, hearsay, anecdotal accounts and speculation. We will also not countenance public “witch hunts” against individuals. Any allegation of cheating must be brought to the Complaints Officer and Welfare Officer privately.
If someone witnesses conduct that they consider to be cheating at an event they must report it to the Race Director, either at the time or the next day, providing evidence. The Race Director will then act as they see fit in the circumstances.
It is not the 100 Marathon Club's responsibility to police race results or monitor finish lines. This is the responsibility of the Race Director.
If we receive a complaint about cheating we will always discuss first with the relevant Race Director. The subject of the allegation will then be asked to provide their version of events. Once that process is complete a decision will be made regarding any action.
Our complaints process is entirely confidential. If we investigate an allegation of cheating, the decisions and any sanction (if appropriate) is shared only with those directly involved.
